As you will see this itinerary not only contains a number of exciting family leisure activities, but also includes a spectacular Arctic train journey, dog sleigh trip and a guided tour of the world famous Ice hotel

Day 1: Wednesday

Departure can be from various UK airports for your flights to Lulea via Stockholm Arlanda You will be greeted at the airport before making the road transfer to Boden which takes approximately 35 minutes. On the time of arrival you will be shown to your accommodation you can then enjoy a welcoming drink and a snack before being provided with a thermal suit, hat, mitts and boots. There may be time to explore part of the town before the dinner is taken in a restaurant nearby

Day 2: Thursday

After enjoying a hearty Scandinavian breakfast you will be joined by our local guide who will provide you with a little instruction before you literally kick-off from outside the hotel, on a kick-sleigh tour which takes you past the local church and around by the central lake (Bodträsket) along the way your guide will point a number of points of interest. We will make a stop at the 18th century Norrigården Inn for some light refreshment before we return you to the hotel; now full updated with local information and history

Now it is time for some equine excitement, we wrap up well before taking an unforgettable horse drawn sleigh ride in the fairy-tale winter wonderland with snow clad trees and nature, with a little luck we may encounter an elk or two as we venture into the deep and silent forest. We will arrive at an old hunting cabin deep in the forest where we make up a fire and have coffee and a sandwich (open Swedish style-do-it-yourself)

Later we visit one of the best Aqua parks in Sweden – swimming under the winter stars, there is a outdoor and indoor pool, penthouse-pool, tropical section complete with slides and all kinds of saunas, Jacuzzi, VIP-department a fully licensed bar and restaurant, there is also a climbing wall, gym and massage centre in fact everything you need to relax and enjoy yourselves. Select from the la-carte menu for your evening meal which is either taken in the VIP area or at one of the other of the local restaurants

Day 3: Friday        

Today you have an early start; we will take you to the local station where you begin your amazing train journey through the breathtaking frozen landscape to Kiruna and the world famous Icehotel, eat your breakfast onboard the train as you enjoy this amazing three hour ride through the stunning Arctic wilderness

On arrival at your destination our guide will meet by car and take you to the Husky kennels before you embark on your amazing dog sleigh journey, meet these beautiful four legged friends before they take you on a true winter experience through the frozen forests, you will take a wilderness meal along the way and then it is on to the Ice Hotel where you will have a guided tour. At the end of the tour you may wish to stroll over to the little church which was built in 1607 and the Homestead (Hemgården) a rustic cafe and restaurant with a very special atmosphere you can view and buy local handicrafts at the Ice hotels newly constructed store where you will find various gifts and souvenirs. On completion of the visit you will be brought back to the station for the return rail journey to Boden and your hotel. Dinner is taken onboard the train during your return journey to Boden

Day 4: Saturday

Free Morning & Early Afternoon

After enjoying breakfast; you are free to do as you please, maybe just relax or take time to explore the town? Or prefer to pre arrange some additional activities with your hosts; these include Arctic Life guided tour, Snowmobiling, Skiing or Ice fishing Please remember to book any of the additional activities before 3.00 pm on the previous day

We gather in the hotels lobby at around 5.00 pm before we take you to the nearby Pagla Mountains where we will have a kick-sled race and try various “fun-in-snow” toys such as mini-skies, different kinds of sleds, snowshoes, etc, these activities are perfect for families with children. There will also be a campfire to grill a snack as an appetiser before we take you back to a restaurant or the hotel for dinner

Some guests may prefer to change the above activity period and take in advantage of a two hour snowmobile activity instead this can be pre-arranged with you hosts at an additional cost of 600sek per person based on two sharing a machine. Individual machines are available at an additional cost of 1,250sek

Day 5: Sunday

Sadly today you leave Boden; after returning your winter clothing you will be transferred to the airport for your return flights

Nivå Hotel

Hotel Nivå is a modern hotel where a personal and friendly atmosphere together with the typical charm of the Boden lifestyle awaits all guests for the first moment they enter our hotel. All 41 rooms are nicely decorated and fitted with shower, WC, telephone, TV and trouser press. The breakfast buffet is included in the room rate. The hotel is situated centrally in a quiet part of the town close to the train station and just a few minutes walk away from entertainment, restaurants and other places of interest. Guests will enjoy our complimentary evening buffet and sauna for relaxation. The hotel is nicely decorated are the rooms are spacious

Bodensia Hotel

The hotel is located in the heart of Boden and has recently been transformed into a modern, welcoming hotel for travellers enjoying quality and functionality. Hotel Bodensia offers its guests an oasis of recreation. The top two floors consist of relax departments with five saunas and offer a fantastic view of Boden and its surroundings. Boden

Boden a small northern town in the county of Norrbotten is full of charm and good facilities where almost everything is close at hand; here you can enjoy many exciting summer and winter activities, sights, local culture and good service. Boden is situated about 110 km below the Arctic Circle, the Björknäs area of the town offers a wide variety of activities and sights is located beautifully at the waterside and yet only a few hundred meters from the town centre; family camping, a heated outdoor pool, sports ground with, amongst other things, ice rink, tennis courts and football pitches can also be found. You will also find the Överluleå Church and adjoining church cottages, the Old Court House, Borden’s oldest school and the Norrbottensgårdarna, a group of old buildings in typical Norrbotten style.

From the beginning of the 20th century Boden has developed into Sweden's largest and most important military town and for a long time Borden’s military fortifications were top secret and closed to the Public and although many military historians will have heard about the Rödbergsfortet (the "Rödberg" Red Mountain Fortress) which was built within a mountain, until recently only a few had actually had a chance to see it from the inside, now you can visit Rödbergsfortet and see the entire installation, if you are interested in military history you should not miss the Armour museum and the Defence museum
