Winter Activities & Ski Break

This package has been specially created to combine the thrills of both the forests and the mountains of Swedish Lapland. Guests will first visit the forest areas where they will take part in some exciting winter activities including dog sleigh, winter horses and a visit to the wonderful arctic zoo in Lycksele. Then you will transfer to the mountain village of Hemavan, here you can select your own activities; great skiing, boarding, mountain snowmobiles, these activities along with equipment hire and passes can all be arranged through your village hosts at the Hemavan Outdoor where you will spend your final four nights in a self catering apartment which is located close to the main lift system and local amenities.

Full Details

Initially you will stay in comfortable accommodation in the quiet forest village of Asilje where you will meet the huskies and take a dog sleigh ride, enjoying some winter horse riding or a horse drawn sleigh ride and also a trip to the famous Arctic zoo in Lycksele, this part of your visit is fully catered meals are taken in our special tepee restaurant set beside the frozen Umea river. On Sunday you transfer by road to the peaceful mountain village of Hemavan; where you will spend the remainder of your holiday in a fully equipped self catering ski apartment which is located close to the foot of the main lift system allowing you to snowboard or ski to your hearts content, ski instruction, lift passes and equipment hire are readily available locally. You can also arrange a snowmobile safari and additional activities with your host at the Hemavan Outdoor Centre. Your return flights to Stockholm will depart from Hemavan village airport

We reserve the right to change the program if this should be the case. Snowmobiles Should you damage a snowmobile whilst driving you will be liable for the first 8.000.00SEK, this is a standard excess charged within Sweden, please drive carefully! Clothing although we provide all guests with high quality extreme weather clothing for the duration of their visit in Askilje you will require your own winter/ski clothing for your journey to and stay in Hemavan; in Askilje we provide winter clothing in the form of hats, boots, suits and mitts. We must point out to all visitors that we strongly recommend that you travel in warm clothing; waterproof footwear and wear hats and gloves. Additional personal clothing should include thermal under garments, wool or thermal socks and additional layers of lightweight clothing such as vests. The temperatures really can be quite extreme and it is much more fun when you are warm! Full Itinerary

Day 1

Fly from the UK via Stockholm Arlanda to Lapland, our guide will collect you at the local airport for the road transfer to your accommodation. After a suitable period to allow you to settle in our guide will provide you with special winter clothing before inviting you to our own magical tepee restaurant set amongst the tree by the frozen river for your evening meal, once everyone has eaten our guide will relax with you and explain the itinerary and activities for day two of your stay

Day 2

Guests make their way to the restaurant for a true Scandinavian buffet breakfast Now is time meet the wonderful huskies at their wilderness farm and take a ride on the dog sleigh through the sparkling snow clad forests of this beautiful region, you will take lunch and coffee at the farm In the afternoon you will travel to the stables and meet some more four legged friends when you can choose either to ride out or take a comfortable horse drawn sleigh ride through the Arctic wilderness Dinner is served in the restaurant, enjoy the evening!

Day 3

Guests make their way to the restaurant for a true Scandinavian buffet breakfast You will then go to famous Lycksele zoo where you see a wonderful array of happy Arctic animals in a very natural environment. Lunch is included, later you will have the opportunity to take a look around the town before retuning to Askilje Once again dinner is served in the restaurant

Day 4

Breakfast is served in the restaurant. Then it is time to hand back your winter activity clothing before departing for the road transfer by the Blue Highway bus which takes you through the breathtaking winter landscape to the mountain ski village of Hemavan where you will spend the remainder of your holiday in the self catering apartment. Your hosts at the Hemavan Outdoor Centre will meet you and take you to your self catering apartment, they will be happy to offer advise you on equipment rental and also arrange any additional activities such as the wonderful mountain snowmobiles or maybe you would like take a trip to the Dalvie Lappish centre to see the reindeer and learn more about their way of life you may purchase these during your stay
